(WBAP/KLIF) – School districts across Northeast Texas are showing support for students and staff at Athens ISD following a Friday collision with a train and a school bus that left an Athens middle school student dead and a 9-year-old girl and the bus driver hurt.
More than 10 school districts are encouraging students to wear maroon t-shirts to school Monday. Maroon is the school color of Athens.
The ‘Maroon Monday’ idea began circulating social media over the weekend and was shared by neighboring districts.
