Austin, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Raising the state minimum wage is on the radar for at least one Texas lawmaker this session.
Rep.Ron Reynolds (D) Houston, filed a bill that would more than double the minimum wage in Texas to $15.00 an hour, up from the current $7.25 and hour.
In a statement released Tuesday, Reynolds said, the increase, “will put more money into the pockets of hard-working Texans and is a critical step in creating an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.”
If passed, the increase would take effect on September 1, 2019.
