Quinlan, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Police in hunt county are trying to find the person responsible for shooting a 15-year-old’s service dog — four years after the town raised money for her to adopt him. “He was my best friend, he was always by my side,” Hannah Westmoreland, Journey’s Owner said.
Journey was found shot outside Hannah Westmoreland’s Quinlan home Sunday Morning after the family had let him out to play near a pond.
When they went to let him in, he was laying still in the yard, eventually dying at the vet. “When we went to pick we saw a puddle of blood and an obvious gun shut wound,” Hannah’s Mother,Tina Westmoreland said
Quinlan residents raised 10-thousand dollars for her to adopt Journey to help her with her diabetes. “We depended on him to let Hannah know if her blood sugar was too low,” Tina said.
A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up to help find the shooter and possibly get another service dog in the future.
Deputies ask you to Call the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department if you have any information. “Nothing is going to bring him back but to find the person who did it and for them to know what they took away would mean everything to us,” Tina said.
