(WBAP/KLIF) – A Texas based environmental group is asking Whataburger to stop using styrofoam cups. Environmental Texas says it has gathered more than 50,000 signatures on a petition asking the burger chain to stop using the cups. In a letter, the group says millions of the cup end up on roadways and it costs the state of Texas nearly $100 million dollars a year to clean up the litter. Whataburger says it’s looking for alternatives, but still have to meet customer expectations when it comes to drink temperature. Meantime, the company is urging customers to throw away cups properly.
