DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texas volunteers are headed east ahead of Hurricane Florence.
Mark Sager and his wife Kathy are headed toward the coast in a Red Cross van equipped with food and supplies. Mark said before leaving Tuesday that when they arrive in North Carolina he and Kathy will go wherever they’re needed the most.
“We’ll probably be based at a kitchen or near a kitchen,” said Sager. “We’ll show up in the morning and they’ll give us our assignments and our routes.”
Dan Halyburton with the Red Cross said multiple vans are headed for the coast from North Texas to help people affected by the storm.
“We’ve got crews of two with each of those vehicles and we have other volunteers from the area,” said Halyburton. “So, as always, Texas steps up when there’s a disaster.”
Groups of volunteers from all over the country are en-route to the Carolina’s, Virginia and other spots along the coast ahead of Florence’s landfall later this week.
