Former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez Campaigning in Dallas Today

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Lupe Valdez was in Dallas this morning, speaking at an American Federation of Labor breakfast.

Valdez said her campaign has been all about listening to the people, saying her appeal to the “everyday Texan” will increase democratic turnout at the polls because she is listening to the issues they care about. Speaking about Governor Greg Abbot, she added “I think our current governor is out of touch with the everyday Texan.”

70-year old Valdez said when it comes to listening to the people, that includes issues like healthcare, paid sick leave, and immigration laws, just to name a few.

Valdez called Texas a non-voting state…saying it is not a red state and said she’s embracing the uphill battle against Governor Greg Abbott.
