The Dallas Police Association Supports DFR’s New Policy on Violent Calls

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Fire Department will now only respond to violent calls by setting up a safe zone until police arrive.

This, after an incident over the weekend where fire fighters had to pin down a domestic violence suspect who was carrying a knife and threatening his wife.

Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata fully supports DFR’s decision and say the organization was upset that “fireman had to go through such an ordeal.”

“Firemen shouldn’t be put in a position to having to fight an assailant to protect their own lives.”

Mata says officers did not get the propoerot get the proper tone, alerting them of impending danger for a first responders.
