DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Following Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway’s resignation and guilty plea to federal corruption charges, there is now an open seat on the Dallas City Council.
The Dallas City Council approved a special election to fill the District 4 Seat. Interested candidates have until next Thursday, August 23rd, by 6p.m. to enter the race. City Secretary Billirae Johnson said a candidate must meet the requirements (which include):
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age, prior to the date of election (which would be November 6th)
- Must be a registered voter in the territory
- Must reside continuously in the district
The special election is scheduled for November 6th, 2018. Caraway is expected to be sentenced in December.
