Hazardous Weather (Fire) Outlook Issued for North, Central Texas

(Fort Worth – WBAP/KLIF)  National Weather Service issues a hazardous weather outlook to intensify the awareness of weather and drought conditions increasingly leading to pop up brush fires across North and Central Texas the past several days.

Despite the promise of rain coming to North Texas beginning Tuesday night or Wednesday, drought is so entrenched in the region now fire can explode in minutes.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Fano tells us rain has been scarce since spring, so even with a good downpour, the Metroplex area is designated as being in severe or extreme drought.

The further west one goes in Texas, the worst the drought and fire conditions get.

The hazardous weather (fire conditions warning in this case) outlook officially runs along Interstate 35 north and south through Texas, and increases in severity traveling west.  Fano, though, reminds us dangerous conditions for fire exist everywhere in Texas this summer, except for a very thin line that runs directly along the Texas Gulf Coast.
