Police Name Suspect in Shooting Death of President George H.W. Bush’s Former Doctor

HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF) – Houston Police have named a suspect in the murder of President George H.W. Bush’s former doctor.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Tuesday that a tip led Police to identify the man accused of shooting Dr. Mark Hauseknecht while he was riding his bike to work last month. The suspect is 65-year-old Joseph James Pappas.

“The suspect’s mother was a patient of the doctor and died during surgery over 20 years ago,” Chief Acevedo said. “It appears the shooting is a result of a twenty year grudge.”

Police are actively looking for Pappas who is considered to be armed and dangerous.
