Deadly DART Crash in Oak Cliff Kills Motorist

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A deadly accident overnight involving a DART bus which overturned after being hit at a high rate of speed by a Dodge Charger, killed the driver of the car.

The accident happened around 12:30 at Polk and 12th in Oak Cliff.

Several residents in the area helped rescue the bus driver and two passengers. ..

They reportedly heard the bus driver screaming for help. One man kicked in the front window of the bus where they found the driver dangling upside down, trapped in her seatbelt.

Another passenger was hanging on to a bus pole. Both were freed and taken to Methodist Hospital for observation.

The force of the crash cause the car to leave the ground a feet, before coming down and catching on fire. A resident who told WFAA that there are crashes in the intersection all of the time so he keeps a fire extinguisher near his door. He used that fire extinguisher to douse flames come from the car.

Emergency crews were not able to get the driver out.
