
Azle, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Parker County man is behind bars after reportedly telling neighbors that he stabbed his pitbull, who was in heat, because other dogs were sniffing at it.
30-year old Matthew Shane Clements of Azle has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
A Facebook post by the Parker County Sheriff’s Department says deputies found the bloody, brownish-colored dog in the bathtub and Clements, who was drunk when they arrived at his home Monday night.
Clements reportedly also reportedly told deputies that he got mad because she is in heat, “When the other dogs began sniffing the dog, he told them no, and the female dog “snapped” at him, so he “hit the dog on the head” with what he described as a small pocketknife.
According to the post, Clements then reportedly told the deputies he went to his neighbor’s home and asked them to “call the cops because he just put his knife through his dog’s head,” and that he “tried to kill her,” but later said, “that’s not right.”
Clements’ described the knife as a small, black pocket knife.
At that time Clements admitted to deputies what he did.
He also said when the the dog “snapped” at him, he “hit the dog on the head” with what he described as a small black pocketknife.
The sheriff’s office, the dog may not fully recover because the knife tip remains in her skull and surgery would be life-threatening.
The county has taken custody of the dog.
