Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police held a vigil Monday night to honor fallen Senior Corporal Earl Jamie Givens.

Givens was struck and killed by a presumed drunk driver Saturday morning as he worked traffic detail for the funeral of a fellow officer who died of a stroke.

Traffic Officer Kevin Nickel among several of givens colleagues spoke at the vigil, saying Jamie will never be forgotten.
Friends, colleagues and the community came together telling stories of the 32-year veterans’s legacy.

Another fellow officer, Casey clark said he once worked the state fair with Givens. He said, “There wasn’t a kid who walked by Jamie didn’t let get on his bike and take a picture and he always had a smile on his face.”
