Arlington Man Who Ran Fraudulent Home Repair Operation Sentenced to Jail

Ernest Thibodeaux (Fort Worth Jail)

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – An Arlington man will spend three-and-a-half years in jail in connection with a fraudulent home remodeling operation.

Police say 45-year old Ernest Thibodeaux – who also went by the name of Kris Malachi — would stop work after getting paid. Thibodeaux also gave customers low-ball estimates, then did shoddy work, or no work at all. In addition to jail, he must also pay 77-thousands back to his victims in Arlington and Fort Worth.

Thibodeaux was accused of similar crimes in Alabama and Mississippi.

Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Sharen Wilson said in a statement:

“Our agencies are getting better and better at learning to spot these schemes, compile strong cases against the defendants, and make sure justice is served for these victims in a timely fashion. If you’re going to try and defraud the residents of Tarrant County, we are prepared to prosecute you to the full extent of the law.”

Dallas police arrested Thibodeaux in February after he was found asleep in his car.
