Medstar Activates Extreme Weather Responses

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) –The heat’s so severe today Medstar has implemented enhanced responses to anyone injured outside.

That means if an ambulance is called for you because you fell and twisted your knee on a sidewalk, Medstar’s ambulance will arrive with lights and sirens blaring.

Spokesman Matt Zavadsky tells us the extreme responses are put into place once the temperature in Fort Worth reaches 105 degrees.   The concern is while an injury may not require immediate life saving actions, being outside in this heat could produce it’s own life threatening consequences.

Temperatures are expected to reach 110F today and tomorrow in the Metroplex, and an excessive heat advisory remains in effect through at least 7 pm Sunday.  A break from the above 100 degree temperatures, not expected until Tuesday, when the mercury is expected to reach just below the 100 degree mark.
