Dallas-Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Showing some love to area first responders is the goal of new initiative dubbed #HydrateOurHeroes — spear-headed by a popular group of area restaurants.
All DFW-area Blue Goose Cantina, Aw Shucks and Big Shucks locations are delivering cases of water and Gatorade to 39 stations housing police, fire and EMS professionals across the metroplex.
Organizers say they want to show appreciation to first responders by keeping them hydrated this summer.
Director of Operations Matt Mortimer credits one of his Frisco manager’s, Erin, for the project. He said she read about area first responders needing extra water and Gatorade for their stations.
Mortimer also encourages the public to get involved.
“Our initiative, we decided to call it #HydrateOurHeroes, so we’d love to see everybody hashtag that on the Facebook and Twitter posts and get out ther and spread the word that this is a great thing to do.”
The restaurants goal is to deliver 390 cases of refreshments to some 10-thousand first responders.
