Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – The Fort Worth Invitational PGA golf tournament at Colonial kicked off Thursday in Fort Worth.
The tournament is expected to bring a $47 million economic impact to the area and will be watched on television by millions of viewers.
“We’re talking about a huge economic impact on Fort Worth and just simply raising awareness about what the city has to offer,” said Executive Vice President of Marketing for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Andra Bennett.
She said the tournament also gives $13 million to local charities which is beneficial to the DFW metroplex.
The tournament runs through Sunday and features Dallas native Jordan Spieth. Thousands of visitors and local gold lovers are expected to attend.
