FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – A North Texas mother known as “Affluenza Mom” was arrested for allegedly violating the terms of her bond.
Tonya Couch, mother of “Affluenza Teen” Ethan Couch, was booked into Tararnt County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
Court records show Tonya Couch failed a urine test required as a condition of her bond but the substance wasn’t specified.
She’s being held in the same jail as her son Ethan, who is expected to be released from jail next Monday after two years behind bars.
Ethan Couch was 16 when he killed four people in a drunk driving accident in June of 2013. A psychologist at his manslaughter trial blamed his actions on “affluenza” or the diminished capacity to be held responsible due to family wealth.
Tonya Couch was on bond awaiting trial on charges of money laundering and hindering apprehension of a felon after she fled to Mexico with Ethan in 2015.
