DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Funeral services were held Tuesday for the Richardson Police Officer killed in the line of duty last week.
Officer David Sherrard was a 14 year veteran of the force and was shot and killed at a Richardson apartment complex. One other person inside the apartment was killed. The shooter was taken into custody and charged with Capital Murder.
Richardson Police Chief Jimmy Spivey said at the funeral that Officer Sherrard’s sacrifice won’t be forgotten.
“Dave’s legacy is going to live forever at the Richardson Police Department,” said Chief Spivey. “I promise you that.”
Officer Sherrard’s wife Nicole spoke about her husband’s loyalty.
“Dave set the bar very high as a husband,” his wife said. “He was an amazing example of what a husband should be to his wife and I am grateful our daughters got to witness just how much he loved me so selflessly.”
Law Officers from across the State packed the Watermark Church in Dallas to say goodbye to one of their own.
