Amber Alert for Mesquite Toddler Discontinued, Child Found Safe

(Mesquite Police)

Mesquite, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – An Amber Alert for a Mesquite toddler has been discontinued and the child has been found safe.

The alert was issued for 2-year-old Amia Blanton around 4 a.m. Friday. She was last seen with her paternal grandmother Levita Gant.

The Mesquite Police Department’s Brian Parrish said the child’s family was concerned because of some issues the grandmother is dealing with.

“We were unclear as to the grandmother’s state of mind. The family was unclear about that. So, that created apprehension among the family,” he said.

Parrish said investigators worked quickly to locate the child.

“The child was found in a house in Dallas. She’s in good health and is being reunited with her family. Her grandmother is no longer considered to be missing,” he said.

Police are still investigating the pair’s brief disappearance. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.
