FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium to Implement Clear Bag Policy

FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News) – FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium are implementing a “clear bag” policy next month in an effort to increase security and better the fan experience at events.

FC Dallas’ Gina Miller said patrons who plan on bringing bags larger than 8 1/2″ by 5″ will have to carry their belongings in clear totes or Ziplock bags.

“It can’t exceed 14″ x 6″ x 14″ which is actually pretty roomy. You can also a clear one gallon quart-sized Ziplock bag,” she said.

Security lines at most sporting events are necessary but long and Miller said that was another reason why the organization decided to change their rules.

“We just wanted to make sure that we were checking bags quickly and efficiently. We also wanted to make sure that we were limiting the size of those opaque bags that are being brought into the stadium,” she said.

These types of rules at stadiums aren’t new. The NFL implemented a purse and bag policy in 2013. Miller said records show that wait times at stadiums that have clear bag policies have decreased nationwide.

Most of the major venues throughout the Metroplex have similar policies. Miller said she thinks most North Texans will adjust to the changes just fine.

“In terms of fan effect, I think a lot of sports fans are already right there. A lot of them have those clear bags, tote bags or those game-day bags that fit within the purse policy,” she said.

The rules go into effect March 3rd. You can view the guidelines in their entirety here.
