DART Driver on Administrative Leave After Fatal Pedestrian Accident

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A DART bus driver is on administrative leave after a pedestrian was hit by the bus he was driving.

DART’s Morgan Lyons said the driver told police that he felt something odd as he made a turn at the intersection of Samuell Boulevard and Hunnicut Road around 1 Wednesday morning.

“The operator made a turn and then heard a sound or felt something as if he had struck something. Then, got out from the bus looked underneath and saw an individual underneath the bus,” he said.

After the authorities arrived, crews helped free the victim from being pinned under the bus.

“Dallas Fire Rescue removed the person from under the bus. He was transported to Baylor where he was pronounced dead,” he said.

DART has identified that victim as 32-year-old Johnathan Dominguez.

Lyons said investigators are checking the footage from the security cameras on the bus.

The driver will continue to be on leave while DART police conduct an investigation.
