All Clear Given After Reports of Shots Fired Near Vice President Pence Speech in Floresville

FLORESVILLE  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Authorities in Wilson County responded to reports of a shots fired call in Floresville on Wednesday, where Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to speak at a vigil in a few hours.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said they were searching for a suspect who fired at a nursing home just after 4 p.m. It’s about a mile Floresville High School where Pence is set to speak.

Sheriff Joe Tackitt said it’s possible that the shooter was using a BB gun.

Authorities swept the area but gave the all clear about an hour after the incident was reported.

Tonight’s vigil is in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs this week.

26 people were killed and the victims ranged in age from 18 months to 77 years old.
