Police Seize Evidence from Home of Missing Richardson Toddler

Richardson (WBAP/KLIF) – Police and FBI agents have seized evidence from the home of a missing three year old Richardson girl. There’s been no sign of Sherin Matthews since she disappeared early in the morning of October 7th. Investigators are now focusing more and more on her adoptive parents. They have served at least 30 search warrants, and have seized at least 47 items from their home and vehicles including trash bags, laptop computers, a digital camera, a pink blanket and a pink tee shirt. The FBI is not commenting on what significance it places on those items. Sherin’s father had been arrested for endangering a child, but is now free on bail. Wesley Matthews told police he put Sherin outside at 3:00 AM as punishment for not drinking her milk. He says he checked on her 15 minutes later, but she was gone so he went back inside, and did several loads of laundry before calling police to report her missing. However, investigators say they are now certain that one of the family vehicles drove away from the home during that period of time, and was gone for about an hour. Wesley Matthews and his wife have since stopped cooperating with police.
