According to a search warrant, Hight showed a knife and handgun to employees at a Plano bar on September 10th…the night of the murders. He was escorted to his car after he was asked to put away his weapons and an employee called 911.
The employees even followed Hight as he drove to the nearby home of his estranged wife, Meredith Hight, who was hosting a watch party.

Authorities said he opened fire on the party and was eventually shot and killed by a responding officer.
According to the documents, a witness who was at the party told police she overheard Meredith ask Spencer, “Did you really have to do this?” in the midst of the shooting.
The witness also said she saw the officer shoot and kill Spencer Hight.
The documents reveal that police found a series of weapons on him, including a knife, AR-15 rifle and a shotgun. Police also found “open gun cases and open boxes of ammunition inside the home in plain view.”
Friends who knew the couple said that Spencer Hight had become depressed as his marriage fell apart and was drinking heavily.
In addition to Meredith Hight, the other victims in the massacre were 33-year-old Anthony Michael Crosse, 24-year-old Olivia Nicole Deffner, 29-year-old James Richard Dunlop, 22-year-old Darryl Williams Hawkins, 31-year-old Rion Christopher Morgan, 28-year-old Myah Sade Bass and 25-year-old Caleb Seth Edwards.
