Arlington Police Release Surveillance Video from Fatal Road Rage Incident

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Arlington Police Department is asking the public to help solve a fatal road rage incident. 19-year-old Dylan Spaid was fatally shot on Sunday along I-20 eastbound between Cooper  and Matlock.

Investigators released surveillance video from two different perspectives from the night of the shooting. The first video was captured at the intersection of South Cooper Street and Arbrook Boulevard. It shows Spaid’s truck travelling southbound on S. Cooper with the suspect’s car travelling southbound in the middle lane.

The second video was captured at an automotive dealership on the I-20 service road between Cooper and Matlock. It shows Spaid’s truck travelling eastbound on the entrance ramp from Cooper to I-20 wit the suspect’s car directly behind him.

The department said the suspect’s car is a black BMW 4-door sedan with dark tinted windows.

Lieutenant Chris Cook said police are relying on the public to come forward with any information on the shooter.

“When you have an incident like this where you’ve been involved in a deadly force situation where you discharge a firearm. Typically, you’re going to talk to someone. That’s usually when someone comes forward with the tip that we need that ‘hey, I heard so and so talking about this’,” he said.

Cook said the department is going to cracking down on aggressive drivers in an effort to prevent this type of unnecessary violence.

“I failed to yield or maybe I made a lane change I didn’t see you in my blind spot or I am tailgating you. That’s typically what upsets people. So, we’re going do some special enforcement details I know here in Arlington and all of our highways that are going to be targeting those types of drivers,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Steve Greisbach at 817-459-5325.
