Tarrant County Prosecutors Accuse”Affluenza Mom” of Bond Violation by Having Gun

FORT WORTH  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Tarrant County prosecutors are accusing the so-called “affluenza mom” of gun possession, which is another alleged violation of her bond.

They filed an amended motion on Tuesday to have Couch’s bond revoked, arguing that she has been in possession of a gun in addition to possessing or consuming alcohol.

Last week, prosecutors filed the initial motion to revoke her bond based on the alcohol allegations.

Tonya Couch is the mother of Ethan Couch, the 20-year-old who killed four people in a drunk-driving crash in 2013 and was sentenced to probation.

During Ethan’s trial, a witness claimed that then teenager didn’t know right from wrong due to his affluent upbringing.

Two years into his probation, his mother was accused of withdrawing $30,000 from a bank account and illegally taking Ethan to Mexico.

Her official charges include money laundering and hindering the apprehension of a felon. She’s been free on bond since January 2016.

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, prosecutors are requesting that she remain in custody until her trial, which is scheduled for October 2.

If convicted, she faces 10 years in prison.
