LAREDO (WBAP/KLIF) – A murder suspect has been killed and three police officers were wounded in a shootout at a Laredo convenience store. Detective Joe Baeza with Laredo Police said officers had been searching Friday for 55-year-old Antonio Rodriguez, who was suspected in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend at her apartment. Police say after approaching a vehicle that may have been driven by the suspect, Rodriguez opened fire on them, and a gun battle ensued, injuring three officers. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later. No word on the conditions of the injured officers.
