Paramedic Shot in East Dallas, Gunman Found Dead

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The suspected gunman who opened fire on paramedics in East Dallas Monday has been found dead.

In a news conference, Dallas Police Department Interim Chief David Pughes said that the suspect, identified as Derick Lamont Brown, was found inside a house near the initial incident, which happened around noon near Dolphin Road and Military Parkway.

Pughes said another man was also found dead inside the same home.

The incident started while paramedics were giving medical treatment to a shooting victim.  Police said the suspect allegedly walked up to the area and opened fire.

When police responded to the scene, the gunman allegedly fired shots at officers before he ran into the house.

Dallas police and SWAT team members set up a perimeter and began searching for the shooter near the crime scene.

At least one paramedic, who is also a firefighter, was shot and taken to Baylor University Medial Center.

He underwent surgery and is said to be in critical but stable condition.

Police have not released the identity of the suspected gunman.
