Denton Police Get New Body Cameras

DENTON (WBAP/KLIF) – All 170 Denton Police Officers will soon be outfitted with new body cameras. The new Axon Body 2 camera has Wi-Fi connectivity and is larger than the Axon Flex camera that’s currently in use.

The Denton Police Department has been using body cameras since 2015. Lieutenant Chris Summit says officers are required to turn on the camera anytime they are called for service. They can also record if they feel uncomfortable in a situation.

Summit says they have seen a significant reduction in complaints since the cameras have been in use.
