DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) A technical error in Dallas could cost lives. The police department discovered wireless callers with T-Mobile service who dial 911 may have trouble getting through to dispatch. Callers hear a greeting that says, “You have reached Dallas 911. Please hold.” Major Elaine Page told WFAA that because operators are spending so much time calling back T-Mobile users, they are slower getting to new calls coming into dispatch. Dallas police are working with the carrier to come up with solution, but so far, nothing has worked. The department filed a formal complaint with the FCC to look into the matter.
