Man Associated With Garland Attack Sentenced

GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF) -The man associated with the plot against an Anti-Islamic cartoon contest in Garland two year ago is headed to prison.

Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars. Prosecutors were seeking a life sentence.

Investigators say Kareen watched videos depicting violence by jihadists with the two shooters and encouraged them to launch the attack.

Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi were killed by police in the parking lot of the Curtis Culwell Center after driving to Garland from Arizona.

A security guard was wounded in the shootout.
