ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – A flat-bed carrying propane tanks burst into flames after it wrecked Friday morning in Arlington.
It happened around 6:00 a.m. on the westbound to southbound interchange at Interstate 20 and Highway 360, near the Grand Prairie Premium Outlets.
The explosion sent shrapnel flying and several cars caught fire. “Collateral damage from debris is always a concern in any crash,” Lieutenant David Tyler with the Arlington Fire Department told WBAP/KLIF News. “I’m speculating, but if the crash caused the fire, and the fire caused the propane tanks to explode, people would have had a bit of a warning. Hopefully people were able to get out of the area before the explosion.”
According to a tweet from the Arlington Fire Department, the big rig was carrying 1,400 tanks.
No injuries have been reported.
