DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Officials with Dallas Area Rapid Transit are seeking the city council’s guidance regarding a potential new set of rails along Jackson Street and underneath Lamar.
The proposal comes with too many engineering and financial problems, according to DART.
The route, which would run mostly above ground with about 21% of it underground, would connect Victory Park to the Deep Ellum station.
Many land-holders and business owners in the area are pushing DART to spend more money to put a majority of the second line, if not all of it, underground, saying a second above-ground line would be detrimental to economic growth.
DART staffers are now looking at potentially running a line under Griffin Street and further east along Young Street.
