(WBAP/KLIF) – Health officials in Texas have finalized penalties against Blue Bell Creameries following last year’s outbreak of Listeria linked to Blue Bell products.
$175,000 must be paid within 30 days and the rest of the $850,000 fine will not have to be paid if certain terms are followed within the next year and a half.
The company is being required to maintain a test and hold procedure for all finished products. Blue Bell also has to notify the Department of State Health Services if any presumptive positive test for Listeria is found.
Blue Bell products were absent from grocery stores for weeks after the Listeria outbreak last year. Blue Bell has been re-launching flavors of ice cream over the past few months.
