DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) — A group of Texans at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia will announce a new political action committee to promote the issues and policies advocated by failed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The group, called Revolution Texas, wants to bring issues like campaign finance, income inequality and tuition-free college to the Lone Star State.
Jacob Limon, who served as Sanders’ Texas campaign director, explained to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the focus of the effort is “basically, ‘What would Bernie do?’ for Texas candidates.” The group has registered as a PAC with the Texas Ethics Commission and will kick off their campaign with an official announcement in the Philadelphia convention spotlight Tuesday.
The Sanders campaign put up a strong effort in the Texas primary but fell far short of the votes needed to win the state. Hillary Clinton beat Senator Sanders by more than 30 percentage points.
