MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Mesquite said it is placing safety above statistics.
In light of recent events in Dallas and other communities where first responders were the targets of violence, the city will change how it posts active police and fire calls.
The “Public Safety” section of mesquite.com/Transparency will no have call information archived and posted only after the scene is cleared.
Police Chief Charles Cato said, “Our police officers and firefighters asked for this change.” Mesquite Fire Chief Mark Kerby added, “Our public safety employees and their families have expressed their appreciation for this extra layer of safety.”
The public can stay informed and receive alerts on public safety by registering through the crime mapping tool at www.cityofmesquite.com/CrimeMap.
