DALLAS (AP) – A man is in custody after law enforcement shot him as he attempting to flee a Texas Department of Public Safety’s driver’s license office in northeast Dallas.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
A department spokesman, Lonny Haschel, says the man was trying to renew his license when it was determined that he had an outstanding felony warrant. The suspect fled the office and got into a white sedan when a trooper tried to arrest him.
Officials say that both the trooper and an off-duty Ferris officer shot their guns at the suspect. He was struck but suffered injuries that aren’t considered to be life-threatening. A passenger in the sedan wasn’t injured.
The suspect was treated, released and taken into custody.
Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
