Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Starting July 13th, Dallas Fire Rescue will have a new leader.
The City went through an extensive vetting process, interviewing people from inside and outside DFR, before deciding on David Coatney.
“He has been a police officer, he also has military experience, and he vast majority of his fire experience has been in the San Antonio Fire Department…just over 25 years,” said Dallas City Manager AC Gonzalez.
Coatney comes to Dallas from Round Rock, where he was Fire Chief. He says he doesn’t want to make any big changes at first. Instead, he’ll listen to his staff and firefighters and get their input on what needs to change.
