DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) A Dallas teen is on track to become the youngest teacher in the school district. Melisa Simon is 17 now, and will graduate from Samuell High School next week. She’s also an undocumented immigrant, brought to the U.S. from Mexico by her parents when she was 3. Melisa enrolled in her school’s early college program and has already completed the requirements for her associate’s degree, according to the Dallas Morning News. A program through Texas Tech University will allow her to get a bachelor’s degree and her teaching certificate within a year. She’ll be 19 when she starts as a bilingual elementary teacher in August 2017.
