Remains Found In Brazoria County Belong To Kelli Cox

DENTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified remains found in Brazoria County last week as belonging to Kelli Cox of Denton.

Cox disappeared in 1997 after making a phone call on a pay phone near the Denton Police Department.

Investigators searched the area outside of Houston after receiving information from convicted killer William Reece. Reece was investigated following Cox’s disappearance, but was never linked to the case.

Officer Shane Kizer with the Denton Police Department says it’s too early to determine what if any additional charges will be filed against Reece.

Additional DNA testing will be conducted by the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
