D.A. Files Paperwork to Extradite Accused Dentist Killer

delgadoDALLAS – Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk’s office says it has 60 days to file the necessary paperwork to extradite Brenda Delgado from Mexico.  She is the woman accused of hiring a hitman and a driver to kill her romantic rival, Dr. Brenda Hatcher, in her Uptown Dallas apartment garage.  The Dallas County DA’s office has taken the death penalty off the table so that Mexico will extradite her.  Dallas defense attorney George Milner says he was hired last week by Delgado’s family, and they had a plan for her to turn herself in, just days after she was placed on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List. Milner says a group of men was going to get Delgado where she was staying, and accompany her to Laredo, where she would walk across the bridge and surrender to FBI agents on Saturday.  The day before that, Friday, Mexican authorities located Delgado and arrested her.  She has now been transferred to a Mexico City jail where she is expected to have several court appearances before she is extradited to Dallas.  Attorney Miler says it’s unlikely Delgado will fight extradition, but he says the process could take weeks, or months.
