DALLAS (AP) – Dallas police have met with other local law enforcement agencies to discuss how they can help the department deal with rising crime and a spike in killings.
Police commanders met Tuesday with representatives from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, local transit police, constables and others. The department said they discussed “a collaborative effort to reduce crime.”
No immediate agreement on sharing resources was reached at the meeting.
Killings, aggravated assaults and robberies are all up this year compared to last year. That’s led to heightened scrutiny of Police Chief David Brown, who’s faced criticism from unions and rank-and-file officers.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has also offered state resources to assist with reducing crime.
