DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A trial for a former Texas A&M football player accused of killing a man with a machete will be delayed, if ever held at all.
An attorney for Thomas Johnson says a court has declared him mentally incompetent.
Johnson was arrested in October of last year after a jogger was hacked to death along the White Rock Trail.
Police say the victim David Stephens was selected at random. Two weeks later, apparently overcome with grief, his wife killed herself.
Johnson will now be sent to a state mental hospital for at least 120-days of treatment and evaluation.
