FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Fort Worth City Council votes Tuesday night on the boundaries for a historic district for the Stockyards.
Council approved $300,000 for a consultant to prepare a uniform code for development last week.
Mayor Betsy Price said the consultant will hold public meetings in May. “People from all over the city will have a chance to come and give their input. Some stakeholders will also have a chance for one-on-one interviews,” said Price.
Council will decide whether to apply the historic district to 60 acres of land or 140 acres that include the “Swift and Company” packing plant. “We’ll continue to ensure the authenticity and the heritage of the Stockyards. Council will still have a very rigorous process to go through and it will be a very public process,” said Price.
