In God We Trust Motto Approved

In God We Trust 3NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (WBAP/KLIF) – The North Richland Hills city council has approved display of the motto “In God We Trust” at its new municipal building.

The vote at Monday night’s meeting was four-to-one. Council member Scott Turnage was the lone dissenter. Two others were absent. No public comment was allowed.

Mayor Oscar Trevino says he originally proposed the idea to remind council members of their moral and ethical responsibilities.

Location of the display on the recently completed 70 million dollar city hall on Highway 26 hasn’t yet been decided.

“In God We Trust” became the national motto in 1956. The words have been on U-S currency since 1964, and the slogan is on a plaque hanging in the chambers of the U-S Supreme Court.
