Update (9:00 p.m.) – All gates at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base are open. The bombs Squads from the 301st Fighter Wing and Fort Worth Police were called in to detonate the suspicious package found at the main gate of the base.
The base isn’t releasing any information about the suspect who made the bomb threat or what was inside the package that was destroyed.
Update (3:35 p.m.) – A suspect has been detained by security at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base after a suspicious package was found on the base. The suspect has been taken off of the base after being interviewed by agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
The main gate will stay closed until further notice.
The Fort Worth Police Department Explosive Ordinance Team along with the 301st Fighter Wing’s EOD team investigated the package. It’s not known what was found.
Update (2:00 p.m.) – The Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base has lifted the lock down status and is now allowing inbound and outbound traffic through the East Gate, located just west of LTjg Barnett Rd and River Hills Ln., River Oaks.
The installation’s Main Gate will remain closed until further notice. The closure is for the safety of installation personnel and the surrounding local community, which is the Navy’s primary concern.

Update (1:30 p.m.) – The Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base has partially lifted the lock down, and is allowing outbound traffic only through the east gate.
The main gate, where the “suspicious package” was found, will remain closed until further notice.
“Any military members or civilians who were off the installation when the lock down occurred are told to contact their supervisors for reporting instructions,” said Karin Krause, a spokeswoman for NAS Fort Worth JRB.

A suspicious package was identified to a Naval Security Force member at the Main gate of Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base at approximately 9:25 a.m. today.
Naval Security Forces, 301st Fighter Wing Explosive Ordnance Disposal team and Fort Worth Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team have responded to the incident.
Out an abundance of caution, the installation is locked down until further notice. This precaution is for the safety of installation personnel and the surrounding local community.
