DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The chief executive at Southwest Airlines said he’ll join the competition for routes to Cuba.
Airlines must submit their bid for direct flights to Cuba next week.
Chief Executive Gary Kelly said if Southwest doesn’t get its foot in the door now, he might miss the chance to serve Cuba for a long time.
The Dallas-based carrier joins Fort Worth-based American, Delta, Jet Blue, and United in competing for 20 daily slots.
Nine smaller airports in Cuba will be able to handle ten daily flights.
