GRAPEVINE (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Grapevine-Colleyville School District Board of Trustees have voted to call a bond election on Saturday, May 7th. The proposed package totals nearly $249 million and includes 1,300 projects at every campus in the district.
Superintendent Robin Ryan explained some of the proposed improvements in a YouTube video.
“The recommended projects are aimed at four primary objectives. The proposed projects include new and upgraded security cameras, controlled-entry access for visitors, and locking door hardware for every classroom… rebuilding Cannon Elementary School, which was built in 1959… Two multipurpose activity centers are proposed along with other classroom additions to accommodate for program growth… HVAC upgrades, improving accessibility for all students, new school buses, improving elementary school playground structures, and updating our technology, network capacity, and kitchen equipment… replace outdated technology in classrooms, repurpose existing areas for collaboration spaces, and upgrades classroom furniture.”

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Trustees have voted to call a bond election for Saturday, May 7. The bond package includes some 1,300 proposed projects impacting every campus in GCISD.
The bond package was assembled by FIRST – the Facility Innovation & Readiness Stakeholder Team. This group was made up of 59 GCISD parents, community members and district employees, with representatives from every campus. FIRST members worked from July 2015 through February 2016 to develop the recommended project list.
Some of the proposed projects include:
• New security cameras
• Controlled entrance access for campuses that do not have this
• Rebuilding Cannon Elementary, which was built in 1959 and has structural challenges
• Build two Multipurpose Activity Centers (to be located at GHS & CHHS)
• Classroom additions to accommodate program growth (GES, TES & GMS)
• HVAC upgrades
• Accessibility for students and staff
• Replacing school buses
• Upgrades to playground equipment
• Classroom furniture
• Repurposing an existing interior area of schools for collaboration spaces
• Classroom and district technology
• Adding network capacity
• Upgrading high school performance systems
• Replacing kitchen equipment
The total bond package comes to $248.975 million. Projects in the 2011 Bond were completed under budget and ahead of schedule. GCISD receives no money from the State of Texas for facilities.
