AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) – The state bar of Texas is investigating whether attorney general Ken Paxton violated its rules of professional conduct.
The move comes after the A-G issued a non-binding legal opinion in days following a U-S Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.
Paxton told county clerks across Texas they could opt out of issuing marriage licenses to gay couples if they had religious objections to doing so.
That generated a number of complaints.
Paxton is also facing three felony charges related to claims he misled investors in business dealings before he took office.
